Pero ito yung klase na di na kailangang ipangalandakan

Hindi din naman perfect ang relationship namin

Pero at least mas malawig ang panguunawa namin

May tampuhan din kami at di pinagkakaintindihan

To Love Again

After ten million years, nagawa ko na rin ang dapat kong ginawa nung nag-break kami ng ex-dyowa ko last November 2010. Inerase ko nang lahat ang mga numbers nya sa cell phone ko. Pati nga number ng nanay nya dinilete ko na rin. Ito na siguro ang pinakamadugong pagmo-move on na nangyari sa buhay-pagibig ko na parang roller-coaster ride kung iisipin. Kahit naman kasi anong gawin ko para malimutan siya — para syang multong susunod sunod saken. Admittedly lakas-tama talaga ng hayop na ex-dyowa na yun sa mundo ko. Buti na lang nagising na ako.

Kung gaano ako katatag na lider at manager — semplang ever talaga ako kapag puso ang pinaguusapan. Nitong taon lang nawindang uli ang dapat sana’y tahimik kong buhay. Gawa nga ng pagkahumaling ko sa hindot na ex-dyowa ko eh hinayaan ko nanamang laruin nya ako sa kanyang mga palad. Anlaki kong engot. Di ko na ikinwento. Tumahimik na lang ako. Sinarili ko ang pagpapagaling sa gasgas kong damdamin. Kasi kung nagkwento pa ako para hindi lang kambal na sampal ang inabot ko from my friends. Halos mabingi na ako sa mga advices nila na pinakikinggan ko naman kaso nawawala ang special powers ko kung si ex-dyowa ang pinaguusapan. Parang syang Kryptonite ng buhay ko — peste!

Maraming nagpaparamdam. Biro ko nga sa kanila: “You’re just after my sexy body…” Either natawa sila at magpaparamdam pang lalo or nasuka at nagpakalayo-layo..” Along the way nagka-syota ako. Kung merong shotgun marriage — ito yung shotgun syota. Kakalurkey kasi nakapatong sya saken nung inimpose nya na kami na. Eh di kami na. Likeable naman si papabels. Masipag. Masinop. Maalalahanin. Malambing. Mahilig. Sino pang aayaw nyan? Kaso nga ampaw naman ang puso ko for him. To be fair nakipagkalas ako. Mabuti na lang hindi sya nagalit saken. We’ve remained friends. O divah parang pelikula.

Then naging busy nga ako. Hindi ko na pinansin na medyo matagal-tagal na din pala akong single. May mga nagugustuhan naman ako pero ayaw naman saken. Kung meron mang nagpapa-tweetums, feel ko naman na ang tingin nila saken eh matabang bank book. Esmyuski! Bibili na lang muna ako ng iPad 2 bago ko gastusin nanaman sa mga pasusong yan. Isa pa nadiscover ko din na kung gugustuhin ko lang meron namang madaling maka-date at jerjer mode lang ang usapan. Susme… para akong nahiya afterwards. I mean, jerjer without emotions? Kakalowka! Enjoy nga pero parang may kulang! Call me old-fashion pero iba talaga ang jerjer na may kasabay na love.

So ganun na nga ang buhay ko. May konting pakilig-kilig here and there. May swerteng kajerjer from time to time. Walang pagibig. Trabaho ever na lang ako. Mas productive pa. And for the past three weeks mega-byahe ang ginawa ko. Binisita ko ang mga branches ko. Amoy eroplano na nga ako eh. Di ko na napansin ang tuyot kong buhay-love. At the end of each day, itinutulog ko na lang ang pagod sa mag-araw na pagtatrabaho. Then — BOOM! Aba may makaka-eyeball ako sa City of Golden Friendship. Pero siempre nadala na ako. No expectations. Wala lang. Sige meet lang. Kinabahan ba ako? Wa! Kasi nga dedma naman itong taong ito kapag nagcha-chat kami sa Facebook. Tinutulugan ako! So yun na.

Pero nung magkita na kami — pucha kumabog ang puso kong tulog. May bigote na — may goatee pa! Paksyet! Down, boy! Kinontrol kong sarili ko. Kwentuhan lang kami. Medyo aloof sya sa umpisa pero habang tumatagal madaldal na. Siguro mga dalawang oras din kaming magkausap. When it was time for him to go, kiniss ko sya sa pisngi. Ay humabol sa labi! Nyahahahahaha! Kinilig naman ako! Ang cheap ko! Hahahahaha! Ganun pa rin ang feelings ko — like ko sya pero no expectations. The next day, nag-text at gusto uli akong bisitahin — para akong nasa hospital? Kako — sabay hawi ng imaginary bangs ko — sureness. Di ba ang cheap ko? Ay sus kabarus — wag na maginarte at baka maudlot pa. We decided to have dinner together.

Sa arte kong ito, napasakay nya ako sa pick-up nya kahit walang aircon. Kumain kami sa Vienna Kaffehaus pero ang layo ng pinarkingan namin ang pinaglakad pa ako. Smile na lang ever ang drama. Over dinner kinwento na nya ang buhay nya. Dati ko pang alam na sya mismo ang nagaalaga ng nanay nyang bedridden. Dun pa lang ka-in love in-love na sya. Napansin ko lang na kung tempered ang feelings ko that night mas nagoopen up naman si ka-date. Nung bayaran na, aba — share-share kami. Natuwa talaga ako kasi it’s been a while since somebody offered to split the bill. Just the same, I took th bill and paid it. Kalowka ang sumunod na eksena. Holding hands while walking kami. Pwedeng himatayin? Anyway to cut the story short, the night ended superbly well. Di na ako magkukwento kung anong nangyari basta parang bida ako sa pelikulang “DILIGAN MO NG HAMOG ANG TIGANG NA LUPA…”

Nag-weeksary na kami this week. Nagulat ako sa natanggap kong regalo galing sa kanya. Marks & Spencer necktie. Sinuot ko kahapon. Hindi ko maintindihan ang feelings ko. Dati ako ang namimigay. Yun bang required ako na mamigay ng kahit ano. Pero ngayon wala talaga. All of a sudden biglang di ko na kelangang mag-adjust sa ugali ng partner ko. I may be older pero ngayon pag magkasama ka hindi na bubusina ang BANTAY BATA 163. Sobra pang understanding. Sobrang sweet. Biglang ansarap uling ma-in love. Reciprocated naman ang love ko dati with my former partners but this time around parang mas malalim ang katapat ng love ko. Whew! Kagabi pinagusapan namin kung anong gagawin namin kapag nanalo kami sa lotto. Kakatuwa. And am sure nakakaloka ang phone bills ko. Kung san man ang patutunguhan nitong episode na ito… sabayan nyo lang ako, faithful readers. Basta ngayon, in love uli ang Royal Gandaness…

After more than fifteen years, muli kaming nagkita ng kaibigan kong taga-Tacloban. Bigla kong naalala ang samahan namin noong nasa Cebu pa ako naka-destino. Para na din akong parte ng pamilya ni Boy at bawat pagkakataon na may free time ako noon, talagang sa Tacloban ako rumarampa. I’m a people person. I thrive better when I am around people. I am easy to get along with but I do have my moments. When you get past my taray mode then you’re good to go. Unfortunately, getting through that layer of my personality might be too intimidating for some. Well, a lot of folks get turned off and stay away – very far away. That’s why each time I am in a relationship, all hell will surely break loose. I almost always lay off my guard and just let the emotions flow. I give it my all. My love. My time. My life. That’s just who I am when I’m in love because I thrive in relationships. I become a better person. I become more grounded. And when I’m in love, I’m easier to deal with. I’ve been through a lot of pain and anguish in my roller-coaster ride called LOVING. Don’t get me wrong but there were fun episodes too. I’ve learned a lot from my past relationships. I try to be a better partner but sometimes it just doesn’t work in the way I want it to. Every break up is painful. Each effort to move on has become more difficult each time. How long has it been? Fifteen years perhaps, three failed relationships. I’m not that young anymore. I need stability. But loving is stressful. More so now – for me. Be it as it may I am ready to love and roll. I still have a lot of loving to share. Will I be more wary this time? More cunning? More scheming? Bullshit! I will be just me.

And then there was none. Who cares? The right one might be forthcoming. Hopefully.

I didn’t really give it much thought before

Probably because I was always in a relationship

I was too preoccupied with the complexities of loving

Believe you me - complicated love is never easy

But for me, the intricacies of loving are worth it

Cliche as it may sound – loving completes me

Then all of sudden, I am in unfamiliar grounds

No more fights. No more petty jealousies.

And I can date again!

Single-blessedness may have its benefits

But it is not working out for me

How I tried but boy-oh-boy, cold nights are just unbearable

So my journey begins

My quest for my one true love

Love is trial and error

Trial #1 occurred and good riddance it failed

Trial #2 is ongoing but it’s not looking good

Louie & Liaa’s Love Story

Louie was a former colleague during my iBank days

Last year, he asked me to be the emcee during his wedding

Without batting an eyelash, I said yes, pro-bono

All I required was for them to fill me in with the details of their Love Story

Louie and Liaa first met as Com-Sci sudents of Ateneo de Davao University

They hit it off immediately and became good friends

They discovered that they have many things in common

One thing led to another and soon they were dating

They both love music but not necessarily singing

Liaa dances, Louie appreciates

Whatever Liaa cooks, Louie eats

They love dogs, tech-stuff, movies and the beach

This couple is inseparable

Both their moms are named Linda

And their dads almost looked very similar

While Louie is the eldest, Liaa is the youngest

When Liaa’s dad passed on, Louie was by her side

Their love story spanned eight years

Like any couple, there were highs and lows

But through it all, they stood their ground

Believing that love conquers all
