Tips Para Umasenso Ka Sa Trabaho

A number of my friends would asked me:  “What’s the secret to your success as a banker?”  Lagi kong sinasabi ito:   “Just love what you are doing and everything else will follow…”  Come to think of it, there’s more to it than just loving your job.  Importanteng mahal mo ang ginagawa mo pero marami ka pa ring dapat gawin para maging successful sa trabaho mo.  Read on, faithful readers…

  1. Patience
    •Patience is a virtue.  Don’t sweat the small stuff.  Avoid losing your temper over everything that does not go your way.  Hindi lahat ng bagay ay bumabagay sa gusto mo.  A cool and calm disposition will get more things done than being hot-headed.  Pansinin nyo yung mainitin ang ulo — antagal mapromote!
    •Being honest does not give one the license to be rude – tact is key.  Simple lang yan:  Huwag kang bastos.  Kung kailangang sabihin ang tutuo then say iit in a manner na hindi ka nambabastos or nang-iinsulto.  When your people commit mistakes and you need to correct them, don’t get personal – just stick to facts.  Hindi ka rin naman perpekto — nagkakamali ka din.  Gusto mo bang ininsulto ka ng boss mo pag pinupuna ang pagkukulang mo?
  2. Good Sense of Humor
    •Looking at the brighter side of life will get you through the rough times.  Smile na lang ever.  Take things in stride.  Kapansin-pansin na ang mga taong palaging nakasimangot eh nagmumukhang matanda.  At pag mukha kang matanda, minus points na yan sa mga bosing!
    •Learn to laugh at yourself and with others but not AT OTHERS.  When you are able to laugh at your own boo-boos then you’re headed for the big-time.  Huwag na huwag lang na you’ll have fun at the expense of others — sige ka at baka makarma ka.  Isa pa, tayong mga Pinoy ay kilala sa buong mundo na masayahin.  We even find humor in our own debacles.  Seeing the humor in situations can help to de-stress you.  Kung gusto mong mabuhay ng matagal then iwasan ang sumimangot always.
  3. Punctuality
    •Always plan ahead and organize your time.  Dito mame-measure ang commitment ng isang tao.  Kapag palagi kang late at palaging palpak ang mga plano mo then you have to reassess your way of organizing your schedules and setting your goals.
    •Coming on time for all appointments – whether in your personal or professional life – shows that you respect your time and that of others.  First impression is lasting ‘ika nga.  At kung ituloy mo pa ang ugaling ganito mas mapapansin ka ng boss mo.
    •Being on time allows you to accomplish more things and gives you a good headstart.  You’ll notice na mas marami kang matatapos kapag maaga kang pumapasok — tuloy hindi ka na kailangang mag-overtime para tapusin ang trabaho mo.
  4. Personality
    •Ikaw ba yung klase ng tao na gustong makasama o makatrabaho ng ibang tao?  Try to be a person that people will want to work with not just because you are nice but because you are seen as dependable and hard-working.  Kung ikaw yung klase ng leader na nakaka-inspire sa iba para magtrabaho ng tapat at wasto then you’re on your way to the top.
    •You can’t please everybody but at least ensure that your personality does not rub others the wrong way – it will not create a positive work environment.  Huwag ka ring masyadong pa-nice effect at magmumukha ka nang plastic.  Be fair and be humble.
    •Be positive and stick with positive people who enjoy life.   Be a positive influence to others.  Dapat nakakahawa ang positive attitude mo para mas gumanda ang takbo ng trabaho nyo.  Huwag kang papaapekto sa mga taong NEGA.  Hindi mo man sila maiwasan but at least huwag kang papaapekto sa kanila.  Mas hawaan mo sila ng positive vibes mo.
  5. Openness To Learning
    •Always strive to gain more knowledge about your work and about banking in general.  Ito ang usually nagiging waterloo ng mga leaders.  Porke’t mataas na ang posisyon nila, feeling nila eh alam na nila ang lahat.  Life is full of learnings.  Araw-araw may natutunan tayo kaya’t be open to new learnings and experiences.
    •Resolve to learn about the other jobs in your area/unit/branch so you can have a better/broader understanding of banking functions.  Sa paraang ito, hindi pwedeng magmalaki ang ibang tao na hindi mo kaya ang ginagawa nila.  Kaya nga mas bilib ako sa mga leaders na nagsimula sa mababang posisyon at saka umakyat na lang sa pagsisikap.
    •Remember, there is no such thing as having too much knowledge.  Ang punto dito eh huwag kang magmamalaki.  Hindi ka Diyos at hindi mo alam ang lahat.  Ang sekreto dito — be humble always.
  6. Loyalty
    •Besides having integrity and being honest, other ways to show loyalty are:
    –Not speaking ill of the company you work for, its policies, and co-employees to other people, especially to customers.  At bakit mo naman lilibakin o sisiraan ang nagsu-sweldo sayo?  Kung hindi ka na masaya eh di mag-resign ka at saka mo ilabas ang mga hinanakit mo.
    –Always striving to present the company you work for in a favorable light.  Mas magiging credible kang empleyado kung alam mo by heart kung ano ang company na pinagtatrabahuan mo.  You have to believe what the vision and mission of your company is all about and put it to heart.  Mas maipagmamalaki mo ito ng buong puso.
    –Not just saying nice things about your workplace but making it that way by correcting areas within your control that need correcting.  Huwag ka din masyadong sipsip at kahit may nakikita ka nang pwedeng ikorek eh tatahimik ka pa rin.  Tell your suggestions to your boss and offer possible solutions.  This way hindi ka nagpo-fault finding lang.  Baka ka mag-comment sa mga bagong ideya or policies, hayaan mo munang gumana ito and give it a chance to work.
    –Refusing to pass on rumors or gossip.  Cut the rumor when it reaches you.  Huwag yung parang uhaw na uhaw ka sa mga tsismis that comes your way.  Rumor mongering is never a productive exercise.
  7. Teamwork
    •Try to get along with other people in your unit/branch.  You will be seeing and working with them closely everyday so at the very least, you should be civil towards those you work with.  Hindi lahat ng kaopisina mo ay makakasundo mo.  Be professional na lang in your dealings.
    •More things get done and accomplished if the work environment is one that fosters cooperation between and among peers/colleagues.  Kung may mga bagay na nagawa ang katrabaho mo at hindi mo nagustuhan then talk to the person involved.  Express yourself in a way na trabaho lang ang issues mo and nothing else.

Some of you may not agree on the items I raised — okay lang yan.  Kanya-kanyang diskarte lang yan.  Ang importante, aware ka na nasa atin lang talaga ang ikaka-usbong ng careers natin.  Magsumikap ka and am sure mapapansin ka din.  Good luck!
