UPDATED: WordCamp Philippines 2010 Is A Certified Hit!

WordCamp Philippines 2010 came to an end yesterday.

It was my first WordCamp and I must say, the experience was a blast.

There were some minor kinks but nothing’s perfect and I didn’t mind really

Being an event organizer myself, I know how tough it is to handle big events

Team Avatar Media passed with flying colors and I’m giving them an “A+”

The College of St. Benilde was better than appropriate as venue

The facilities fit WordCamp’s requirements to a “T”

The speakers were Subject-Matter-Experts and engaged their audience very well

I enjoyed my two break-out sessions under Markku Seguerra and Jonas Roque

Lunch was just right – nothing fancy but good enough for a probinsyano like me

The plenary was another thing – it was more interactive

I loved the portion of Professor Danilo Arao because I learned a lot from his talk

I made a mental note to invite the professor to Gensan soon

And there was Google Philippines’ Aileen Apolo-de Jesus

She got everyone excited with the freebies she gave to anyone who can guess the name of each Google logo

Aileen ended her talk with the audience in the palm of her hands

Now that’s what you call an effective speaker!

And there’s Matt Mullenweg

Admittedly, I was starstruck

I was one of the first delegates to have a picture taken with him

Avatar Media scored a homerun when they got the WordPress Founder to attend WordCamp Philippines 2010

For his talk, Matt did it Town Hall-meeting style, making it appealing to the audience

Although the questions were technical, Matt somehow found a way to give it his personal touch

The man swept everyone off their feet with his engaging smile

Kuya Avel bravely asked him:  “Is a movie about you forthcoming?”

I saw Matt blushed and politely said: “No…”

Well, if there would be one, I’d be the first to line up!

So there.  WordCamp Philippines 2010 may be over but the memories about it will remain.

Take a bow, Avatar Media.  You did a good job.
