Mardi Gras Street Dancing Competition Fires Up Gensan’s Tuna Festival Experience
Author: orman | Filed under: Festival EverThis year’s Mardi Gras Street Dancing Competition has so far caught the interest of nine (9) elementary schools and five (5) high schools. As of yesterday, we have gotten inquiries from three more groups. This time around, there will be three main areas where the participating contingents will be judged. These are:
- Oval Plaza Grounds, fronting the Stage Area on September 20, 2010 at 5:00pm. The contingents will perform during the Opening Ceremonies of the Tuna Festival Week. An updated version of the original Tuna Festival Theme Song will be played for this ONE DANCE performance.
- Pioneer Avenue on September 26, 2010 from 9:00 am to 12:00 nn. This is the Street Dancing Portion of the criteria. All contingents will parade the streets on the final day of the Tuna Festival week as one music is played on big Sound Boxes in the streets.
- Gensan Gym, Lagao on September 26, 2010 at 3:00 pm. All participating contingents will converge at the Gensan Gym grounds in Lagao for the Focal Presentation. Bringing the event to the gym will give spectators a better view of the contingents as they vie for the coveted Grand Prize.

sana naman po next time huwag ipagbawal ng organizing committee ang pagkuha ng litrato ng mga unregistered photographers. like the case of kalilangan 2010, we were there at the center island along pioneer ave to capture moments of the parade but we were told by someone who is a member of gensan camera club na para lang daw yung area na yun sa mga member ng camera club. anu ba naman yan? akala ko ba pinopormote nyo ang lungsod sa mga turista tapos ganun pa ang trato nyo sa mga kumukuha ng litrato..kakaloka namang sistema yon. hindi maganda. chaka!

@Toinks — you can just imagine if we allow all unregistered photographers to take shots during the competition – pure chaos. the registered photographers are not just from gcc. they are also tourists from other areas and officially registered with the orgcom. we didn’t do it for any particular group. we did it so that we can control the competition area. if indeed you want to take pictures upfront you are not all prevented to register with us but subject to set guidelines.

amateur lang po kaming photographers, we do not belong to any group per se. I just hope there will be fair treatment sa mga bisita natin. I hope to see favorable changes beginning this Tuna Fest onwards. maraming salamat po.

@Toinks — you don’t have to be a member of any organization to register. we have to instill a semblance of order. rules have to be set and we all have to abide with it so that everyone will enjoy the festivities.
