UPDATED SCHEDULE: Gensan’s Tuna Festival Experience 2010 Is On

This year’s edition of Gensan’s Tuna Festival Experience kicks off on September 5, 2010 which commemorates the 42nd Charter Anniversary of the city.  The annual Flea Market “Tinda-Tinda Sa Oval Plaza” and the Fiesta Tuna Carnival will also open on the same week.  This time the Tuna Festival Week will run from September 18 to 26, highlighted by the following major events:

The Search of Miss Gensan 2010 has always brought prestige to the festival.  This time around, ten lovely ladies has been pre-selected to compete for the coveted crown.  Talent Night happens on September 19, 2010 while the pre-Pageant Night happens on September 24.  The Pageant Show is scheduled on the 25th of September.

Mr. Gensan 2010 replaces the Body Fest Modeling Competition this year.  This is entirely a separate pageant from Miss Gensan.  The Organizers believe that there’s a need to establish the male counterpart of Miss Gensan.  Talent Show for Mr. Gensan happens on September 18 while the Pre-Pageant night happens on September 22.  A joint Pageant Night with Miss Gensan is scheduled on September 25.

One of the biggest crowd-drawer of the 2009 Tuna Festival was the Cheer Dance Competition.  The Lagao Gym was filled to the rafters and the adrenaline-pumping stunts really wowed everyone in the audience.  This year, we hope to duplicate the feat with more participants from around SoCCSKSarGen area.  The Grand Finals happens on September 18.

Gensan is becoming popularly known as the breeding camp for world-class hip hop performers.  This edition of FishDance Hip Hop Dancing Competition once again opens its doors to groups from around Mindanao.  SoCCSKSarGen eliminations is scheduled on September 11 while the eliminations for the other Mindanao areas happens on September 21.  Grand finals is scheduled on September 22.

Originally, Gensan’s Pop Idol Search was a Tuna Festival event until it was moved to December’s Pasko sa Gensan celebrations.  This time around, we bring back the ultimate singing talent search with more chutzpah.  Wannabes will compete for the Singing Idol crown beginning September 12 for the eliminations.  The semi-final round will happen on September 19 and the Grand Finals is scheduled on September 24.

What would a fiesta be without the Street Dancing Competition.  Two categories, elementary and high school, of about fifteen contingents will fill the streets of Gensan on September 26 from 9am to 12nn. Competing Colorful Floats will also parade the streets on the same hour. The Focal Presentation of the Mardi Gras happens beginning at 3pm at the Lagao Gymnasium.
