Last Saturday, I attended a Photo-Journalism Workshop in Davao
Kasama ko si Kuya Avel and Davao Bloggers
Andami kong natutunan from The Jojie Alcantara
It helped that dati na kaming magkakilala
She was one of the judges of our first Miss Gensan pageant many years ago
Isa pa, we’re both columnists of Sun*Star

Kasi nga may LCD projector na ginagamit
So malabo talaga ang tapon ng images
I eventually realized kumbakit dun kami nag-workshop
May assignment palang ipapagawa si Jojie
Photo-Safari ang drama!
Susme! We were tasked to take shots around the park…
Siempre kailangang gamitin ang natutunan
Rule of thirds.
Pattern.
Portrait.
Details.
Background.
Foreground.
At kung anik-anik pang eklavu.
Eh ang init kaya!
Hahay bahala na si Vicki Belo
Mas type kong matuto
So go shoot agad kaming lahat
We were given an hour for our assignment
And we have to submit five of our best shots
Ang sarap pala ng feeling ng photo-safari
Exciting.
Sobrang ngarag din.
Heto ang mga best shots ko.
I’m still learning so please be kind.
And by the way, thanks to Davao Bloggers for inviting us!
Here goes nothing…

worm's eye-view
This is my winning shot!

anong tinitingin-tingin mo dyan?
Ito talaga ang hirap kunan
May cage kaya around the eagle
And super-mega dedma sya
Patience is a virtue, ‘ikanga…

run for your lives!
If not for the bright light
This would have been a perfect shot

will sing for food
Sarap ng feeling when you get your desired shot!

waiting for prince charming
This is my horizon shot
Ang ganda kasi ng clouds sa background
Our model, Gwing, was a good sport!

all work and no play

read the sign please
Tuwang-tuwa ako sa picture na ito
Ito yung klase na: THIS PICTURE TELLS A STORY type

do not disturb.
Swerteng shot ito.
Lipad ng lipad kasi ang mga butterflies.
Am sure isa ito sa mga pagod

namumula ever so much
This could have been sharper
Kaso humahangin kasi

congressman, is that you?
This shot is dedicated to all politicians
Anyway, I also learned an important lesson from Jojie
Kahit may rules, go for broke and break the rules.
And CROPPING is my new friend…
Thanks Jojie for everything!
And thanks Avatar Media for making this possible.
