The Air Supply of our wonder years captured the hearts of everyone during a two-hour, non-stop, heart-stopping wallop of a concert at the Gensan Gym in Lagao last night.  It was indeed a night to remember.  As Graham Russell and Russell Hitchcock sang their songs, we all sang-along with them.  Each of their song brought back so many good memories that I would bet my bottom-peso that there was not one dry-eyed spectator that night.

Our tickets stated that the concert was at 7:00 in the evening.  As early as 6:00pm, people started trooping to the spacious Gensan Gym.  About 500 delegates from the Convention of Tourism Officers of the Philippines lined up to watch this once-in-a-lifetime show.  When my group of bloggers arrived at around 8:30pm, you can already feel the excitement in the air.  The mood was guarded yet you can feel the eager anticipation building up.

Then the lights dimmed.  The band came out in the dark.  Two familiar silhouettes entered the stage and the spectacle of klieg lights wowed everyone.  As Russel Hitchcock started singing the first notes of his song, Graham Russel strummed his acoustic guitar and just simply brought the house down.

and then there was light...

and then there was light...

People were actually singing-along!   I was seated beside the First Lady of Gensan, Dra. Rose Acharon and I was pleasantly surprised to hear Ate Rose sing to her heart’s content!  Boy, what a night and the concert was just starting.

Every song had a different meaning for each and everyone who was there last night.  Last night was  a celebration of life and love.  It was a night that broke barriers of race, belief and creed.  It was a night that will ring forever in our memories.  Let these pictures tell their stories…

And so as the song goes…”Two less lonely people in the world…” Last night, over 10,000 people were less lonely.  Thank you, Michael Wee for being brave enough to produce this concert.  In the meantime, let’s start saving for the upcoming concert in December featuring SARAH GERONIMO!
