My Two Centavo Worth v.08.10.09

BLOG VIRUS. I got bitten by the blogging virus.   I’ve written blogs here and there but I have not really thought of creating a blog site which I can really call my own.  Kuya Avel has been cajoling me to get started but I’m just too lazy or too uninspired to do so.  As I saw the popularity of Kuya Avel’s blog grew and his blog network rising, I contented myself with my free imeem, facebook and multiply blogsites.   Last August 1, Lyle Santos started constructing my site.  It was like being hypnotized while Lyle was setting it up.  I found myself giving the details of my credit card to pay for the one-year subscription of my blogsite.  The die was casts.  To cut the story short,  I have this blog and I’m already showing signs of addiction.  As Brendel said, it’s a good kind of addiction.  Anyway, thank you’s are in order:  Kuya Avel for hosting this site; Lyle and Blogie Robillo for continuously fixing glitches here and there; and Brendel Balaga for the encouragement.  Enough said.

TROUBLE IN POLITICAL PARADISE. The elections is still in 2010 and yet we are already feeling the tension in the different political camps in these parts.  The mayoralty race will be very interesting.  For starters, at least four “retiring” councilors are aiming for the second highest seat and they’re from one party.  Then there’s the Vice Mayor who is also bent of gunning for mayoralty position.  And to make matters worst, a close kin of the Mayor just might run too.  Major headache there.  Am sure glad that I’m in the private sector.

TUNA FESTIVAL UPDATES. Last week, we confirmed the support of the country’s two biggest telcos( Smart and Globe)  to the 2009 edition of Gensan’s Tuna Festival Experience!  It was a long and arduous negotiations but it was all worth it.  Their packages include free concerts featuring top Manila bands.  Smart hopes to bring Kamikazee and Spongecola or a pair of celebrity-artists.  Globe has yet to confirm which Manila band they will bring but we hope it would be PUPIL.  We also sealed the deal with GMA 7 as Media Partner.  They will bring Jennilyn Mercado and Mark Herras to topbill their Kapuso Mall Tour.  I wonder which bukot-bukot artist will ABS-CBN bring this time.

LOVE ACTUALLY. The last time I was in Manila, Oliver gave me one red rose to mark our first anniversary.  I’m a sentimental person but I’m really not a great fan of flowers.  Blame it on my dad’s legacy spelled ASTHMA.  Anyway, back to the rose… I wanted to preserve it for posterity’s sake.  The old book-press method seemed the most reliable until I saw an unused ZIPLOC container.  I collected the petals and put them in the container and  “locked” it and put it inside the ref.  That was two weeks ago.  When I checked it today, lo and behold, the petals are still fresh!  Isn’t that neat?   Whatever the scientific explanation there is to it, for me, it’s just love, actually.
